The cross-party and non-partisan FRIEDENSBÜNDNIS NORDDEUTSCHLAND (Peace Alliance North Germany) meeting in Bremen on December 3, 2023, declares:
We value the peace commandment in our basic constitutional law (Grundgesetz) and are inspired by the long-term vision of a world free of nuclear weapons, in which the tenderness of nations, cooperation for the good of all has prevailed and peaceful, reason-oriented conflict resolution strategies have become the norm. WE ARE COMMITTED IN THIS COUNTRY TO
- Diplomacy in international relations to prevent wars and, in the event of war, for ceasefires and peace negotiations.
- civilian ports and the civilian maritime economy on the North and Baltic Seas - for arms conversion
- détente and cooperation for the benefit of all - instead of destructive armed or economic wars
- the Charter of the United Nations
- a European security architecture with ALL countries in Europe
- disarmament instead of rearmament, peace promotion instead of “war capability”
- the right to conscientious objection and recognition as grounds for political asylum in Germany
- an open space for debate in which controversial points of view can be fairly debated
- investment in education, health and the welfare state, for sustainable infrastructure and environmental protection
WE REJECT
- the misuse of our country, ports, infrastructure and airspace as a deployment and logistics hub for foreign troops and for “global missions” and foreign wars in violation of the Basic Law
- Military interventions and arms deliveries to crisis and war zones!
- weapons and ammunition shipments via our ports
- military exercises and armaments projects such as
◦ the construction of warships and associated weapons systems
◦ the construction of warplanes and military missile, satellite and space activities
◦ the construction of tanks and ammunition designed for them
- economic warfare and sanctions
- war propaganda, psychological warfare and the marginalization and defamation of voices promoting peace
- the massive destruction of the environment and resources through military exercises, arms production, military operations and munitions (especially DU “depleted uranium” and cluster munitions).
We network, plan and coordinate our peace activities along the nordern federal states of Lower Saxony (NIedersachsen), Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), from Emden/Leer to Wolgast. The participating peace organizations are networked in the PEACE ALLIANCE NORTH GERMANY. They continue to act autonomously on their own responsibility according to their own statutes and objectives with their own actions and public appearances. In regional and, in the future, possibly also central alliance actions expressly agreed upon together, we limit ourselves in this broad alliance to the positions and issues formulated here.
We oppose all forms of imperialism, militarism, fascism, anti-semitism and racism.
